Description
This dalmatic is cut in cream with a straight body, short, wide sleeves and a soft folded collar that sits neatly at the neck. A beige centre panel with fine gold edging runs down the front and back from the collar to the hem, and matching beige bands sit across both sleeves. The straight, easy cut hangs well over the alb and keeps a clean line when worn with the stole at Mass.
On the front panel, a crowned shield crest is embroidered at the chest in red, gold and white, framed by a ribbon scroll and ears of wheat on both sides. Below it, two matching motifs run down the panel, each with a flower at the centre, curling scrollwork, dark green leaves and a spray of wheat rising to a gold diamond tip. The wheat recalls the bread offered and consecrated at Mass.
On the back panel, the IHS monogram is embroidered in gold below the collar, with a cross rising above the letters. The IHS carries the Holy Name of Jesus. Below it, the same two wheat and scrollwork motifs repeat down the panel, so the front and back match when seen together.
Each sleeve band carries a small spray of wheat, a flower and scrollwork in gold and dark green. The crest, monogram, wheat and scrollwork are machine-embroidered at high stitch density. The lines of the lettering and the fine details of the leaves stay crisp and well defined against the beige panel.
Suited to deacons, parishes and communities, this dalmatic is worn over the alb at Mass, with the stole across the left shoulder, for Sundays, feasts and solemn celebrations throughout the year.
